Description: This course examines the impact of aquatic therapy on psychosocial health, quality of life, and overall patient well-being. Using current evidence and clinical examples, participants will explore how the unique properties of water can support emotional regulation, participation, motivation, and patient engagement across rehabilitation settings. Content emphasizes clinically relevant applications that align psychosocial considerations with skilled aquatic therapy practice. Strategies are presented to support patient-centered care, therapeutic rapport, and meaningful participation while maintaining appropriate clinical reasoning and medical necessity within rehabilitation environments.

Instructor:

Taylor Kozell, OTD, OTR/L is a board-certified occupational therapist and aquatic therapy expert who brings advanced clinical knowledge and real-world experience to her teaching and practice. She earned her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from Nova Southeastern University and holds multiple specialty credentials, including Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS), Certified Neuro Specialist-Advanced Pediatrics (CNS-AP), and Certified Aquatic Therapist.

Taylor has treated clients across the lifespan in inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings, applying evidence-based and creative approaches to help individuals reach meaningful functional goals both on land and in the water. In addition to clinical practice, she trains rehabilitation professionals through Aquatic Therapy University, sharing her expertise in aquatic assessment, neuro-rehabilitation, and creative therapeutic strategies.

When she’s not teaching or treating, Taylor enjoys outdoor adventures with her husband and their dog, Moose, and is always on the hunt for the best local tacos.
